Our practice is led by Merlyn Hurd, PhD, who holds internationally recognized certifications in QEEG and Neurofeedback, including BCIA Board Certification and IQCB QEEG Diplomate credentials. These certifications reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and evidence-based Neurofeedback and QEEG care.
Our Flat Iron office is a cozy, warm space accessible via elevator, designed to put clients at ease from the moment they arrive. Each of the two private treatment rooms is equipped with advanced Neurofeedback and QEEG and neuromodulation equipment, ensuring a comfortable setting for care.
Dr. Hurd is a licensed Psychologist with over 40 years of experience providing psychological therapy, biofeedback, neurotherapy, and hypnosis to clients. As the former Director of Health, Nutrition, and Mental Health for the New York City Agency for Child Development's Head Start Program, Dr. Hurd trained over 2,000 staff members and served a student population of more than 16,000 children and their parents.
Dr. Hurd holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from Yeshiva University. She is a Certified Biofeedback and EEG Neurotherapist, Certified Hypnotherapist, and was awarded Certification of Proficiency from the APA College of Proficiency in the treatment of Substance Abuse.
She is certified at the diplomate level in QEEG-DL analysis and holds Diplomate Status in Neurotherapy from the National Registry of Neurofeedback and QEEG Providers, as well as from the Neurotherapy Certification Board. Additionally, she has Fellow Certification in EEG Biofeedback and Peripheral Biofeedback from the Biofeedback Certification Association of America (BCIA).
Dr. Hurd is the former Chairperson of the International QEEG Certification Board and the former Editor of the International Society for Neurofeedback and QEEG Research’s newsletter, NeuroConnection. She has authored chapters in several leading neuroscience publications.
She is also a co-author of the International QEEG Certification Board Guidelines for QEEG and has presented at numerous ISNR, Neurofield, and Head Start conferences.
Jordan is a licensed therapist. Jordan has been working with Dr. Hurd for over 10 years. Prior to working with her, she saw Dr. Hurd for treatment for migraines and OCD. After receiving successful neurofeedback treatment, she was inspired to pursue a career in this field.
Upon completing her undergraduate degree, she began learning from Dr. Hurd the ins-and-outs of QEEG; how to obtain and interpret QEEG brain maps, which neurofeedback instrument to choose based on someone's QEEG, and how to create individual treatment plans and protocols.
Jordan has a deep-rooted interest in working with children and adults who struggle with inner peace. She has a great interest in neuromodulation in conjunction with neurofeedback. Neuromodulation acts as a tool to tell the brain “what” to do, and neurofeedback helps the brain learn “how”. The combination of these 2 therapies is Jordan's specialty.
Jaymes Gabrielli is a board certified QEEG technician and talk therapist. He holds a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which he completed with honors, and has half a decade of experience working as a Neurofeedback technician under the guidance of Dr. Merlyn Hurd.
With a strong focus on neurology, neurofeedback, and neuromodulation, Jaymes is also a trained clinician in Quantum Reflex Integration (QRI), where he specializes in supporting children with autism, developmental delays, and behavioral challenges.
Currently pursuing a master's degree to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, he brings a creative edge from over 12 years of work as a digital artist. Outside of his professional life, Jaymes enjoys hiking, martial arts, spending time with pets, and cooking, showcasing his love for nature, animals, and holistic wellness.
Denise Hurd is an Actress, Fight Choreographer, Intimacy for the Stage Choreographer, and a multidisciplinary artist. She is a Certified Teacher with The Society of American Fight Directors and has trained with both Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC) and Theatrical Intimacy Educators (TIE).
She is an Adjunct Professor at the City College of New York. Denise holds a Bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a Master’s degree from Hunter College.
Lutin Tanner is a stage lighting specialist, electrical expert, and dance choreographer. He has been a professional in the field for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University.
In 1965, Dr. Hurd and I, along with three other couples, developed and operated Escuela Hispania Montessori, the first bilingual Montessori preschool in America. The school was established under the corporation's bylaws and continues to operate today.
